difference between "Entire PC" and "Disk and partition" in ATI2020

Thread needs solution

Hi,  I just installed and setup a new Win10 PC, And yes I want to run ATI2020 on it to save backups.

My goal is to make a full system image.  Including: operating system, setings and applications. Only C:\ drive files. My PC also includes two HDD  d:\  and e:\ . Both drives only are used to store general data. D:\ and E:\ are not required for the system backup. general data backup is done in another task.
So if my C- drive would become defect, I replace it, boot the system with USB/DVD.  And than restore the full system image.  And I have my system back as it was.  This is very powerfull from Acronis.

But which back up must I use?

a)  "Entire PC" ?    and exclude  D:\ and E:\

or

b)  "Disk and partition"  selecting the complete C-drive  (including EFI system partitition and Recovery Partitition

What shall be the difference?

Marien, don't use 'Entire PC' if you only want to include your C: OS drive in the backup.

Use Disks & Partitions (by clicking on the Source panel) then just select the C: disk with all of its partitions, so that you include everything that is needed for a successful recovery and bootable Windows drive when done.

What Steve said. But if you want to also include D: and/or E: for a snapshot at the same time, just create separate disk/partition backup jobs for those and run them too.

A typical windows 10  boot disk, the C drive has  typicaly 3 partitiions.
    complete C-drive

    EFI system partitition and

    Recovery Partitition

should al be selected for succesfull recoveries?

Simple answer = YES!  They are selected by default by Acronis and should be kept in the source selection in case you ever need to perform a bare-metal recovery to a brand new disk drive.
