'failed to open backup...'

Thread needs solution

Several times I try to do a backup of selected files to a portable hard drive and the process seems to work but I'm left with an error message (see attached). What's wrong and how do I fix it?

Lee, just looking at your image, the drive letter for your portable drive has changed from G: to I: and ATI 2020 is trying to find files that it 'knows' were stored on drive G: (from information stored in its internal database).

I can only suggest trying to run a Validation for this backup task and if it allows you to browse to locate any missing files, then use that option.

The alternative approach here would be to make a note of all the Settings / Options for this task then use the Delete option to remove the task settings from the GUI, then use the option (hidden behind the caret 'v' to the right of + Add backup, to 'Add existing backup', then choose the most recent file for the backup from the new drive I: location.
