Thread needs solution

I have read much of the information but am a little stuck. Here'what I have:
1. 256G SSD with operating system and user folder (user folder has My Documents with lots of business and financial stuff that I'd like to have "differential'd" like say daily for a week, then weekly for a month, then monthly for a year...I hope I put that right...)

2. A 4TB extra drive where I keep all images, videos (many movies and tv series). I would like to have a few backups (incremental or diff) of images because there's lots of sacred family photos, but really only need one copy of movies, videos, tv series, etc.

3. Then I use two backup scripts using XXCOPY to backup to TWO 4TB external drives. On one drive I have my entire C drive and TV Shows, then on another drive I have My entire 4TB 2d drive with the movies, images, etc. I have extras of these external drives so I swap them out every couple weeks.

This xxc opy routine is cool BUT it only keeps ONE copy (not incremental or differential). I'd like to keep it going (weekly) as long as I have enough room. It's redundant but i'm used to it. So what I'm doing with Acronis is a "version chain" for my entire C drive, (daily) then a differential (daily) for my entire documents folder and nothing else. I will probably setup a daily or weekly differential for my images as well at some point.

What would be the best way to proceed? I'm having a problem figuring out the difference between a "differential" and "version chain" .... I'm clear htat diff is superior to increm because all the pieces have to be perfect with increm whereas if i lose or corrupt one piece of diff, I'll just lose THAT data but not the rest. But how to I compare diff with this whole "single versions" and "version change" idea?

Thank you. I hope I haven't rambled too much.

Kenneth, I would recommend having a read through the initial sections of the ATI 2020 User Guide which has a lot of basic information dealing with the questions you are asking here.

The User Guide is available on your computer via the (?) Help pages or else you can read it online via the link above.

Take time to read the 'Getting started' and 'Basic concepts' sections after which the other sections of the user guide will make more sense.
