hard drive erased!!!!!

Thread needs solution

I decided to make a mobile back up and put it on a hard drive that had files, but also it had lots of space. Acronis said back up was done, so I shut down my computer. I turned it on today and ALL of the files from that hard drive where I put the mobile back up are GONE !!!

Recovery says there is no back up!!!!!!!!

Paul, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but need to clarify exactly what you are describing here?

By 'mobile back up' do you mean using the option to create an Acronis Survival Kit on an external USB drive?

If so, then Acronis should have given a warning if the external drive was going to be reformatted to do this!

Next, if the external drive still shows that there is a .tibx backup file on it, then the fact that the Recovery panel shows 'nothing to recover' is a known glitch that can be resolved reasonably easily.

To do this, first try using 'Add existing backup' and selecting the .tibx file on the storage drive to be added back.  The option is found under the caret 'v' to the right of the normal +Add backup.

If the Recovery panel still isn't showing correctly, then run a Validation for either the task or the file on the storage drive.

The option to create a Survival Kit is only offered when you are creating a new Disks & Partitions (or Entire PC) type backup task and are setting the Destination for the task to a suitable external USB drive that can be used for this purpose.
See KB 61639: Acronis True Image: how to create Acronis Survival Kit - for more information on the process.

My question was answered. I tried to do the servival kit to some extra space on an internal drive. I let it run through the night. Next day, Acronis said something went wrong with back up, so I shut every thing down and rebooted. When it all came up, all on that one drive I attempted to but mobile backup to was gone. ...I wish there would have been some sort of warning..... :(

Paul, a Survival Kit should not be created on an internal drive. The whole point is to have an external and bootable USB drive which also contains your backup. The survival kit creation will create the bootable partition.

I don't know what Acronis does when asking to create a kit on an internal drive, but there should have at least been some warning that all the data would be lost. What kind of backup task were you creating? I don't have an answer as to why the survival kit option was even presented. Or was it?
