Help To Restore Backup

Thread needs solution

Hello All,

First time for me to post. I have used TI since 2012. I use it to periodically clone my PC system disc, and it has helped a few times. This time I may be in trouble.

I have TI 2020, and my system disc is showing error, and will not boot. It was my fault, but I also corrupted the clone.

I have an external hard drive that has some TI backups I made 2 months ago. But I did not create a bootable drive. So, do you have any advice how I can rescue the recovery from this external HDD?

Thank you.

Shilesh, welcome to these public User Forums.

The first option needed here is to log in to your Acronis Account and then download a copy of the ATI 2020 Rescue Media .ISO file from the Downloads section and use this to either create a bootable DVD disc or use with a utility program such as Rufus to create a bootable USB memory stick (2GB min size, 32GB max size).

Note: you need to have registered your ATI 2020 license serial to your Acronis Account to be able to download any software.

This will allow you to boot your computer from the rescue media and recovery your backup image providing the backup was created as a Disks & Partitions image.

You also need to be aware of the BIOS mode used by your computer and boot the rescue media using the same BIOS mode.  If you open the BIOS settings for the computer, look to see what the current boot device is?  If it shows as Windows Boot Manager, then it is UEFI boot, otherwise if it shows the failing disk drive make or model, then it is Legacy boot.

If you are able to download the ISO rescue media, then you would need to install ATI 2020 on a second computer and use that to create rescue media to use for recovery.

KB 63226: Acronis True Image 2020: how to create bootable media

Steve,

Thank you for the information. I was able to get back up and running. But I could not use Bootable Media downloaded from my account. I was able to get a 30 trial of 2020 ATI on another computer, and made Rescue Media Builder. From there, I was able to backup from external hard drive.

This is first time i used Backup.. Usually I use clone for safekeeping my system disc. This time, I corrupted both the system disc and the clone. So it was good that also had made the backup on another external dive.

Regards.

Shilesh, glad to read that you have got your system back up and running again.  Please do make a new set of rescue media from your activated ATI 2020 application using the 'Simple' method and keep making regular backup images too.
