How to create a system image?

Thread needs solution

I am brand new to Acronis True Image, and I am confused about how I go about getting a simple image of my boot drive that I could use in case I needed to recover my system. Using the BACKUP tab, I selected my C: drive and told it to copy the drive. It did so, creating a file with a .tibx extension. What I'm confused about is whether this is just a file backup or a complete system image. For one thing it is only 47GB while my system drive shows about 140GB in use. For another this process doesn't seem any different from what the program would do if I asked it to backup a data drive. Is there any distinction between file backups and system backups in Acronis? If so, can someone tell me whether or not what I've created is a system image and if not how to create one. In other backup software I've used the distinction between these two kinds of backups is clear. Thanks in advance

Harry, welcome to these public User Forums.

Your .tibx file is a backup archive and is not bootable - it is intended to allow you to recover your system using that archive if the need arises.

Please open the ATI 2020 User Guide and read the 'Getting started' and 'Basic Concepts' sections which will give you a clearer understanding of how ATI works and can be used.
