Image recovery on large HDD\SSD

Thread needs solution

Good evening, such a question, there is an image along with sysprep 120/500 (hdd, ssd)
Will I be able to deploy it on larger drives?
e.g. 250/1 TB or 500/2 TB
As I understand it, this should work, as long as the volume of the disk on which we put the image is not less than the volume of the device on which it was created, am I right? I look forward to your reply, thanks.

Kurilovich, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but what Acronis application are you using here for your deployment?

These forums are focussed on users of Acronis True Image or Cyber Protect Home Office which do not use sysprep directly.

Typically there should be no issues with taking an image from a smaller drive to a larger one.

I use acronis true image, but before creating the image I do syspre to clean and prepare the image as much as possible so that it can be installed on systems with other characteristics

Kurilovich,

I would assume that your use of Sysprep would be to return the image to the OOBE point of Windows install sequence.

You should not have issue with applying the image to a larger disk after a Sysprep run however, Windows might need internet access to download drivers to boot the install.  At this moment in time I am not aware of any boot critical drivers that are not available via Windows Update which of course is where Windows looks for such drivers.

Having said that on a recent deployment I performed on a new laptop from Lenovo I found that the machine grabbed a few drivers from the Lenovo site before booting.  I also experienced this with a new custom build using an ASRock Z690 platform board.  This is a new approach by OEM's and a welcome one as far as I am concerned which should not be of issue to you.

If for some reason you are unable or simply do not desire to have the target machine online during the process, then having necessary device drivers available on other media would be recommended.
