Image(s): questions about .TIB & .TIBX

Thread needs solution

Dear,

I'm using Acronis True Image 2020 build 38530 on a Windows 10 PRO 64 bit - 21H1 - 19043.1165

with Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0, system (with a x64-based processor).

I have to SSD's (2 partitions with Windows/personal partition on the first one, their images on the

second one with also 2 partitions) and two SHDD's (5 partitions with data on the 1st one; 5 partitions with

their images on the second one with 5 partitions).

1.       On my 1st SSD I have my Windows partition (name partition: WIN10)

a.       The image for my Windows partition is put on the second SSD (same sized partition)

b.       Acronis uses .TIBX which creates a smaller file in data than the original partition

                                                               i.      how come?

ii.      is it shrinked (because this is not mentioned in the software)

iii.      before ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE used .TIB

c.       Although I select a full backup … (name image: WIN10-UPDATE)

                                                               i.      … when I keep the image file, and create a new (on a later date e.g.) "FULL"

backup, I get a WIN10-UPDATE_001-version (I put the images in the same folder)

ii.      … and if I delete the first FULL backup, I get a message when opening the

second one (or third one, …), that's it's not the last backup in the list

1.       if it's a FULL one, it shouldn't matter?

2.       On my 1st SSD I have my personal partition (name partition: OLI4)

a.       The image for my personal partition is also put on my second SSD (same sized partition but other one)

b.       Acronis uses .TIB for this image

                                                               i.      how come .TIBX is not used (or is that ONLY for the operating system)?

c.        which has the same file size as the original partition being imaged

                                                               i.      in previous versions of Acronis this was also the case (so no change)

Keep me posted!

Thanx & greetz. Oli4

All Acronis backups using either .tibx or .tib file formats are compressed by default and will normally achieve around a 20% saving in the size of the data after compression, plus various large files are excluded by default (as are rebuilt by Windows automatically on start-up), such as the Windows pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys etc.  Those files can add up to 20+ GB in size.
