Incremential Backup

Thread solved

Hello!

I donnt know how to setup Acronis 2020 in a way, that it one time (every week) a full Backup of PC and the other days only the files that hae  changed. What I want is, to have available everytime the last 7 days, to go back in case  of.

I will attach files how I have it now.

TIA

Franz, from looking at your screen images, you look to have your backup setup almost correctly.

You have scheduled to run the backup Daily at 12:00

For your Backup Scheme, you have selected Custom and Incremental but if you want to have a new Full backup created each week, then you need to change the number of incrementals from 7 to 6, i.e. Day 1 = Full, Days 2 - 7 are Incremental, Day 8 = Full etc.

For automatic cleanup, I would recommend not using the option you have chosen to 'Delete files older than 7 days' as that doesn't start counting the days until after the next new Full backup has been created successfully on Day 8, so nothing will be deleted until Day 15.

I would recommend using the alternative option to 'Store no more than X recent version chains' where you choose how many actual backup chains you will keep.  Automatic cleanup will then run immediately after the X + 1 Full backup file has been created successfully, letting you keep the most recent X version chains.

You may also want to reconsider not deleting the first backup version chain, as this will quickly become out of date and just take up extra storage space on your backup drive.

Note: with ATI 2020 all incremental files are automatically consolidated into a single file with the full backup file along with important metadata.
