Installating True Imag 2020 Error message

Thread needs solution

I am getting the following error message when installing True Image 2020:

Installation has failed. If you have antivirus software installed, try turning it off, and then restart the installation. If the error persists, please contact Acronis support team. Could not write value to key \Software\Classes\tiafile\Shell\open\command. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key or contact your support personnel.

I followed the instructions:

  1. Check the error message and note the registry key which needs to be corrected.
  2. Open the Windows Registry Editor: Start -> Run -> regedit.exe
  3. Navigate to the key indicated in the error message (typically located under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE).
  4. Right-click on the key folder and select Permissions.
  5. In the Permissions dialog box, click Add.
  6. In the Select Users, Computers, or Groups dialog box, enter the specific username that you are logged in as (click Check Names to be sure), and then click OK. You can also use the Everyone user.
  7. Select Allow for the Full Control checkbox and click Advanced.
  8. Select the Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permission from the object option, click Apply and then OK.
  9. Run the installation again.

But still no luck

praful shah, welcome to these public User Forums.

Are you doing the install using an Administrator level user account / using 'run as Administrator' which is required for ATI to work correctly and have all required privileges / authority?
