Is there ***that*** much of a difference between 2017 and 2020? What has been your experience?

Thanks in advance,

There some significant differences between ATI 2017 and 2020 that will take some understanding to grasp fully.

AAP was first introduced in ATI 2017 Next Gen version but is now integrated into all later versions with changes in each new version.

ATI 2020 introduces features taken from the Acronis Backup business product range with using .tibx format files for all new Disk backups.  .tib files are still used for Files & Folders backups and for backups brought forward from 2018 & 2019 versions.

It also introduces a new Replication feature which can upload local backups in .tibx format to the Acronis Cloud but does so using the same techniques as for local backups, i.e. repetitive full backups after any incrementals / differentials - so will consume higher network bandwidth and cloud storage!

I would recommend looking at some of the sticky topics in the ATI 2020 Forum area, especially the .tibx FAQ topic and the links to KB documents it contains.

Put honestly, there have been some significant teething problems with 2020 that may still be regarded as show stoppers for some users, especially with the issues caused by task settings being reset from the Acronis Dashboard servers via the Managed Machine Mini Service that has not yet been fixed.  This latter issue affects 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2020 / any version that has the MMMS / Dashboard service!
