L O N G Backups

Thread needs solution

I have created a new backup job of a folder containing 1.4 Tb of data at the start of a new backup set.  How is the estimated time remaining showing 18 days, 17 hours to complete?

FIles are on USB 2.0 connected RAID drive, the image will be on a NAS.

Robert, I would suspect that the estimated time is wildly inaccurate and the time will fall dramatically after ATI has established what the average transfer rates are for the data you have selected.

If you are transferring files over USB 2.0 to then further transport over your local network, then this will add to the lower performance of the task.  Ideally you should consider upgrading the USB 2 drive to use USB 3 if this is possible.

You may also want to try splitting your backup source into multiple smaller tasks to achieve a faster performance and smaller image files on the NAS.   1.4TB is a relatively large volume but this will depend on the type of files involved too.  Acronis will try to compress this data looking to achieve around a 20% saving in size, but that will only be possible for files that are not already in a highly compressed state, i.e. none video, music, photos etc!
