Large files size of image backups

Thread needs solution

I've been using  Acronis backup since 2009 version and it's saved my butt many times. .  Now on version 2020 build 38530.  I have just updated my system to a 1TB SSD and reloaded windows. The C drive shows that  I am using about 220GB  of space but when I do an image backup the image file is about 310GB in size.  Way more than I would have expected. Previously  on my old 1TB HD I had  3 partitions of Win XP, Win 7 and Win10 which was about 225 GB total  and the image backup files were about 150GB in size.

Anyone have any idea why the backup file should be so large??

Thanx in advance..

Paul, welcome to these public User Forums.

Did you create a new backup task with ATI 2020 and if so, what option for the Source did you take? If you choose the default 'Entire PC' option for the source, then the next question is: how many disks are installed in the PC?  This option will include all fixed disk drives!

One method of checking (since Entire PC as source does not allow you to revisit the source selection) is to open the Recovery panel and look there at what was included in the backup?

Also the icon for a backup task will show a computer monitor for Entire PC backups, a physical disk hard drive for Disk and Partitions backup and a file folder for Files and Folder backups. Easy to see immediately what type of backup task is configured.

Many thanx Steve and Bruno.  Yes that was the issue.  Somehow I had checked another drive when  I did my first backup.   The new backup files is now 136GB  which is what I would have expected.. :-)

Paul, glad this is resolved - thanks for the feedback.
