"The last backup failed" -->when it's a scheduled backup , but the same backup in manual mode works
Hello,
I have an issue with a backup. It is a backup scheduled at a certain time.
And it always ends with "The last backup failed" , I don't know why, and there is no explaination.
But if I run the same backup manually I have no errors
I have no idea how to fix this
Any idea where the logs would be?
Thank you.

Thank you very much for your answer
The account I use has Admin rights
In the meantime I uninstalled ATI and I reinstalled it. Looks like it works better. To see if it lasts
Where I could find Backup Worker logs ? If I need ?
Thank you for your time

Use the MVP Assistant tool referenced above and it will show you where all the logs are along with formatting them to render them readable!

The issue came back.
When my backup is in error (red cross), I've check in MVP Assistant log viewer, there were no entry in Backup Worker directory !
But when I run manualy the backup , I saw the log in the Backup Worker branch.
It's like it does not laucnh the backup ?
Thanks

Is there anything in the Demon logs for the same time when the backup should have been run? There should normally be a short / brief demon log followed by a more detailed / longer Backup Worker one.

Hello,
No there is nothing.
I have 2 backups plan.
One at 20:00:00 and it works no problem.
And one at 20:30 --> does not launch.
But I when launch manually there is no problem --> I launch it at 20:43 (cf the log file).
No idea.
Regards

Fabien, sorry but I am running short on ideas here for this issue.
The one suggestion that I can offer would be to either setup a new backup task using all the same source / destination and backup options as the problem task, or else to remove the settings for the problem task from the GUI by using the Delete option (leaving the files intact), then using the 'Add existing backup' option to select the most recent backup file from the destination location, after which the newly added back task will need to be reconfigured.
One further late thought, have you tested swapping the schedule times for your two tasks? Example: run the current task at 20:00 instead of at 20:30, and the other task at 20:30 instead of 20:00. Does the same task still run successfully / correctly and the same one fail?

Fabien, can you post the log showing the failed task? The two logs you posted show the successful 8:00 backup and the successful 8:43 manual backup.

I can't post log showing failed task. Beacause there is no entry at all !
So I recreated my backup task. And it worked well 2 days.
It started to stop working when I added the post commands. (to shutdown external hardrive).
When I test the command in Acronis no problem. And when I run the backup manualy, all works fine.
So I don't understand why, by scheduling it does not work because I have no log ...
So I swapped the schedule times for the two tasks and of course I put the post commands on the old one which was scheduled at 20:00 before (backup of C:), and now it is planed at 20:30.
We'll see.

Fabien, if the command fails there should still be a Demon log for it. You indicated in the original post that you get an error message that the command fails, so that indicates that at least it is being started by the scheduler and thus a Demon log should exist.

I reproduced the problem by creating another test backup
When I schedule a new backup there is no problem (1st backup scheduled acronis success.jpg)
But when I add a pre command then it fails : 2nd backup scheduled acronis failed pre command.jpg and 2nd backup scheduled demon log failed pre command.jpg
And there is no log
When I start the backup in manual I have no error

Fabien, I am suspecting a problem with the pre-command. It may be a function of the conditions upon which the pre-command is run.
I had problems with pre-commands a few years ago and other have as well.
Some thing to try...
If the pre-command is a .bat file, change the extension to .cmd and see if that helps. Try to reference the file without an extension.
What are you trying to do in the pre-command? How have you configured handling the pre-command?

Thanks.
There is no action in the pre-command.
Only a PostCommand (to shut down external hard drive).
So I may have found a workaround.
I no longer use planning
I set the backup trigger to "event" when an external device is connected (external hard disk UP)
I'll see tonight

Fabien, if there was no action in the Pre Command what was its purpose here?

No needs to put any action in the Pre-command.
As I explained I put an action in the Post command to shut down the external hard drive at the end.
So tonight with the event "when an external device is connected", it works .
Same backup tasks and same Post command.
Very strange

Fabien, you wrote earlier in this topic:
But when I add a pre command then it fails : 2nd backup scheduled acronis failed pre command.jpg and 2nd backup scheduled demon log failed pre command.jpg
Hence our confusion here. Either you are using a pre command or using a post command or using both or using none?
The Demon log below is from one of my own tasks using a Pre Command showing that this is shown in an obvious way:
26/01/2022 09:00:03:947 AM Operation: Backup
26/01/2022 09:00:03:951 AM Priority changed to Low.
26/01/2022 09:00:04:482 AM Child process has exited with code '0'.
26/01/2022 09:00:04:482 AM Execution of user command succeeded: D:/Powershell/Scripts/CheckIP.bat
26/01/2022 09:18:08:491 AM Operation has succeeded.

I need a Post Command (not a Pre command)
But I also test with a Pre command to see what's happen.
And now I put a Pre Command and a Post Command and it works, but I don't use the planning (it does not work in that case)
