leaving the backup disk permanently connected to windows 10 desktop pc.

Thread solved

I use Acronis True Image 2020 for my pc back ups. I use differential backup every day at a set time, but currently I have to ensure my backup disk is connected prior to that set time each day. I want to automate that procedure and leave my backup disk permanently connected to the pc.
I have a separate usb stick containing the windows recovery should I ever need it.
When I have my backup disk connected, then power up my pc, I am not taken straight to Windows but get the 2 dialogue boxes as shown in the attachment to this query.
What must I do leave my backup disk permanently connected to the pc so that when I power up the pc it takes me to windows as normal, then, when the set time for backup arrives Acronis will perform the backup?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Leslie, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but no attachments found for your new topic here.

I would suspect that you may need to check your BIOS boot settings and ensure that Windows is the first option when booting, and that your computer is not trying to boot from the backup drive first?

Thanks for your response Steve.

I checked my BIOS and the boot priority is correct.  I proved this by removing the backup disk, plugged in the windows recovery disk, then powered up the pc which went straight to windows.

Perhaps there is something weird on the backup disk?  I checked for hidden files but found nothing.

This is a mystery.

Leslie, are you able to show us the two dialog boxes you refer to in the first post? Might help to understand your mystery.

I finally got it fixed.  I looked at the backup disk in windows disk management and found a partition that held the acronis survival data, so I deleted that and now I can leave the disk attached to my pc.

cheers.
