Making backup takes a lot of time

Thread needs solution

Hi I have just bought a new version of ATI 2020. I created a bootable USB (WinPE Rescue Media). I have another USB with ATI 2019 (17750). My system Win10x64 Polish comp.1903 on one 120GB partition on Samsung M.2 NVMe 970EVO When I make backup using ATI2020 it takes 9 minutes instead 3 minutes with ATI2019. I understand that ATI2020 creates a new file .tibx using a new method of compression. Capacity of backup for my partition 54GB for .tibx (ATI2020) and 61GB for .tib (ATI2019) But it is a huge difference of time. Is there any possibility either to increase speed of making backup or to make backup using ATI2020 but with previous method (saving as .tib)? Best regards

I checked on a few computers so both making a backup and restoring takes a lot of time.

RAF65, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but once you have ATI 2020 installed, all new Disks & Partitions backup tasks will now use the new .tibx file format and all the underlying processing that accompanies these.  There are no options to create these type of backups using .tib files unless you are only making Files & Folders type backups (which still use the .tib file format).

I understand that you are seeing an increase in time for the backup to complete but in reality a difference of only 6 minutes should not be a critical issue provided all the backups are successful and result in .tibx files that can be used to recover your system when needed.

I would recommend submitting Feedback to Acronis with your concerns that .tibx backups are slower than the older .tib ones, just so that they can consider if there are any ways of improving performance as this new approach matures with ATI 2020 and later versions. The Feedback tool in found in the Help section of the ATI GUI.

Many thanks. I already did

I'm not going to use ATI2020 anymore at least for the time being until they improve it.

In my A-51m with Samsung 970 Pro NVMe (system on 200GB partition)

ATI2019 (17750) backup time 1 min 28 sec

ATI2020 TIME 10 minutes 30 seconds.

For me it makes difference.
