mms_mini.exe high Disk usage

Thread needs solution

Hi,   I noticed a very high disk usage constantly on 2 of my internal HDD's.  High read valuse:  more than 50 Mbyte/s.
This is caussed by:  MMS_Mini.exe from acronis true image  2020.
On a W10 machine.

How can i stop this disk usage?

It seems completely unneccesary!   I'm runnin no back ups at thes times.
Looks like a spy, scanning my disks  :-(

The same software is nunning on a W7 machine, ther I don't see this problem.  In the setrtings I see no item

to enable or disable the mms-mini behavior.

What version of ATI do you have installed here?  Your signature says ATI 2010, you have posted this topic in the ATI 2020 Forum and you mention 2020 version in the text.

Try turning off Acronis Active Protection and see if this helps with the CPU / Disk usage?

If it does, then AAP is probably 'managing' one of your applications that needs to be added as an exclusion to stop the impact on performance.

See KB 62113: Acronis Active Protection slows down applications without a valid digital signature that modify many files in a short period of time - for more information.

Hi Steve,  Thanks.
I did check your tips an d read more about MMS_mini on this forum.
I do not understand Why MMS-MINI is so busy with my disks.  I don't need the portal.
I run a local 2020 version.  no cloud licence.
I just did remove mms_mini. As I do not need the tool at all.  Acronis had no setting to disable it.

I would like to add that the mms_mini.exe application is not just utilizing too much CPU, but it is also causing the ntoskrnl.exe (system) to run high as well.  This was occurring with Windows 10, and is just as bad with Windows 11.  This is not good for my laptop.  Aside from the extremely high CPU Utilization, it is causing my laptop to overheat, and my battery goes from 6-8 hours of usage time, to less than 3.

Acronis, please do not make excuses for the mms_mini.exe application.  Fix it so that it does not cause problems, side-effects, and more importantly, cause us to lose interest in our devices and your product.

There is no chance of this being fixed in ATI 2020 as it has been out of support for over a year.

The behavior is unpredictable; I see it on only one of my many PCs - a rather ancient Ryzen 1700X (see specifications below).

PS I am assuming that the cause is the same have not investigated it a intensively as I should have.
