Mounting an image

Thread needs solution

Second posting this evening as I'm working my way through the User Manual.

I am unable to Mount any backup file created with ATI 2020; however, I have no problem mounting an older backup created in ATI 2019 with the older file version.

Any suggestions?

THANKS!

Hello Darryl,

thank you for your posting! Mounting is currently not available for the .TIBX archives (new archive technology introduced in Acronis True Image 2020), the feature is planned to be added in the future updates.

No image mounting??? Then take it out of the user manual!

It says:

"

How to mount an image

  1. In File Explorer, right-click the image file that you want to mount, and then click Mount image.

    The Mount wizard opens.

  2. Select the backup for mounting by its creation date/time. Thus, you can explore the data state at a certain moment."

Robert, Acronis have addressed this point in KB 63425: Acronis True Image 2020: Limitations of tibx backups

If you bring forward .tib (Disk / Partition) backups from a prior version, then you can still use the mount option, but not for the new .tibx files.

There are several places where Acronis refers to the (so far) nonexistent "Mount" function. Having accurate documentation is critical, but editing documentation (if done well) is a time-consuming process. I suspect we will see the "Mount" function added back into the product before we see it removed from the documentation.

Without the Mounting feature in 2020 how do I recover individual files from my Acronis Backup / Image?  I image my computer to an external hard drive only.

Thank you.

ions, as per the KB document, you can just double-click on the .tib or .tibx file in Explorer which will open it and allow you to use normal Copy & Paste controls for your files.
