Is the new TI 2020 fully compatible with the toggle option for Memory Integrity - Core Isolation in Windows 10 security settings?

Thread needs solution

I have TI 2020 but have not installed it yet since I'm doing a clean install of Windows 10 for other reasons, using Windows v. 1903.

For those of you who have installed TI 2020 already, did you also happen to have the toggle for Windows 10's "Memory Integrity - Core Isolation" enabled in the security options?  And if so, was there was any popup message from the Acronis installer about any feature of TI 2020 being incompatible with that Windows security option setting?

I had mentioned previously in a TI 2019 forum thread that when I had installed TI 2019 a while back with Memory Integrity - Core Isolation enabled, I received such a message as had some other folks.  Even though it warned me for the 2019 product, it seemed to continue to install OK.  So I was curious if that message is still occurring in 2020 product, or whether it now plays well with Core Isolation enabled.

Thanks for any info.

Afaik this has not been discussed during the betas, I haven't toggled this on 1903 so far, either. It would be interesting to see your results.

Hello Tumbleweed,

could you please elaborate, was it a clean installation of Acronis True Image 2020 or an upgrade to an earlier version? If the latter, did you enable Try & Decide feature? According to our internal sources, Acronis True Image should be generally compatible with the Core Isolation feature, the only case when there might be incompatibility is when Core Isolation is enabled together with Try&Decide (this needs verification though). I've asked our RnD to conduct investigation.

Tumbleweed, I have it turned off.  I have 2020 installed and attempted to turn it on and it is telling me there is an incompatibility so it will not turn off.

Seeing as there is a 2020 update available today, I'm going to run the cleanup tool, yank ATI off, reboot, turn it on and then try to install 2020 and let you know.

ATI 2020 release #2 (20770) installed just fine with memory integrity turned on. So far, no issues with True Image, but I haven't been able to play with it much.

I did have a little trouble getting Univesal Restore 2020_11.7.40240 to install.  Not sure if it is related, but it failed to complete the first time.  The 2nd time, I opened command prompt with "run as admin" and launched the .msi from there and then it installed correctly.

Memory integrity only allows one program to be accessing / working at a time doesn't it? (according to it's literature of features). I'm not expert on this this and only learning about it to work out my own systems security status but that could be part of the issue with Acronis on some systems yes?

Edit: I noticed on my notebook which has hardware TPM and Bitdefender installed there is not even an option to enable Core Isolation, only memory integrity. Can different versions/implementation of TPM or other programs such as Bitdefender which access these isolated processes be interfering?

Not sure. Previously it was not even possible to install it with the memory integrity setting in Windows 10 enabled so I don't think many people would be able to run ATI with it on until now.

I'm not familiar with Core Isolation and also do no have any configuration options. Is there something that needs to be enable in the BIOS for this?

Bruno,

You have to have virtualization enabled in the bios. If you do, it should show up in windows security as an option.
