No Volsnap driver

Thread needs solution

I have ATI 2020 on a Windows 7 system.  I have a nightly incremental disk backup job scheduled.  This usually works well, but every now and then the backup job fails to start with the error "No volsnap driver found."  Once this happens, no subsequent disk backups will occur (although file backup jobs will start) until I notice the error and reboot the computer. After a reboot, everything works again ... until the next time.

Is there anything I can do to keep this from happening?

Can I configure ATI to notify me if this error occurs or do I just have to manually check every morning?

Pete, do you have the most recent / final build version #38600 of ATI 2020 installed on your Win 7 system, if so then any known issues related to volsnap drivers should already be fixed as far as Acronis are concerned.

Beyond having the latest build installed, then this is not an issue that I have seen reported in the forums over the past recent years.

The only other remedy might be to schedule a Windows restart prior to your scheduled backup task being run, allowing time for the restart to complete, assuming that you are doing the scheduled backup when the system is unattended or not in use.  This could be done via the Windows Task Scheduler.

See webpage: How to configure Windows to reboot automatically on schedule

Yes, I do have Build 38600.

I had thought of scheduling a restart to occur before the scheduled backup.  Perhaps that's a good idea anyway, without regard to the volsnap issue.

Thanks for the suggestion.
