Old incremental files that are missing cause 2021 to wait for user response

Thread needs solution

For years, and for my own backup strategy reasons, I have deleted the incremental versions of a backup set after the next full backup is moved to offline storage.  Yes, I avoid automatic cleanup, by choice.  That has worked up through 2019.  I skipped 2020 but have recently installed 2021.  Now 2021 runs a backup and then halts when it cannot find a very old and irrelevant incremental file.  How far back does it have to check, geez.

Is there a way to stop it from checking pre-2021 incrementals?  Or, another solution?

If the backup uses the *.tibx architecture (used for disk + partitions, and whole PC backups), if you delete incremental backups outside ATI the backup will be irreparably damaged. If you are using a backup created with ATI 2019 or earlier it will use the old *.tib architecture.

The first thing I would try is to validate the backup, which should fix any problems if it uses *.tib. If the backup uses *.tibx, you could try validation by I doubt that it will solve the problem.
