Problems when trying to back up Windows 10 to two separate external USB drives

Thread needs solution

Running Win 10.. always latest updates, and Acronis True Image 2020.  Had this problem for a while now.   I try to keep 2 separate external USB backup drives, but seems like Acronis doesn't always like this.  For example, I have two 5TB Seagate Backup Plus Portable USB drives.   I create my backups to save everything from the G: and H; drives to the backup; about 1.2 TB total for a full, and very small for partials. Either backup drive will identify as the I: drive when I plug them into USB, and that's also how they are displayed in Acronis.  I never have both drives plugged into USB at the same time.   I manually start the backups when I fell its time for one,  and it does 1 full and 4 partials before going for another full backup.  I dont use the verification option.  Here's the problem I run into:  After doing a few back ups on one hard drive, then I try to do a backup using the other hard drive, I get a "No current Disk"  error, even though the disk is up and viewable using file manager.  Any ideas why Acronis doesn't recognise the 2nd drive, and is there something I can do to correct this, instead of wiping the drive clean and starting over?
