Recovering files, where is the "Keep the original folder structure" checkbox?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

the manual for the 2020 version says the following about restoring files:

When you choose a new location, the selected items will be recovered by default without recovering the original, absolute path. You may also wish to recover the items with their entire folder hierarchy. In this case select the Keep the original folder structure check box.

But there is no check box! Am I missing something?

(Interestingly when booting from recovery media, there is a check box, but apparently it does not do anything - although it would be really useful.)

Regards,

Oliver

Oliver, you are not missing anything here, that option simply is not offered as far as I can tell!

Doing a file recovery will preserve the structure at the level of folder selected and any nested folders within that level, but does not preserve the structure above the selected folder to the root where the top level is found.

I don't know about ATI 2020 since my system with that version is off, but on ATI 2019 I just did look and found the option. I selected to recover files from a Disk/Partition backup. After selecting recover to a different location, browsing to the new location and then moving to the next screen, the option was right there.

Maybe it's only when recovering files from Disk backups. I doubt it would be gone in ATI 2020. I have not looked on a File/Folders backup.

I did a test recovery to a new location of my Documents folder, and it excluded everything in the tree up to an including the "Documents", below that level the directory structure was in tact.

There was no option to include the full directory structure above the directory I was recovering. I am using the ATI 2021 Beta but there has, as far as I am aware, been no changes to the behaviour of Folders & Documents backups (other than those to Acronis Cloud) for several versions of ATI.

Ian

I just found the option fine on ATI 2019 for a Files and Folders backup.

I need to power up the 2021 Beta to see how that may differ.

Well, I just checked the 2021 Beta and the checkbox is not there.

Hello Everyone,

this option is not available for the .tibx archives. Could you please share the use-cases, where this option was helpful to you? I'll create a feature request based on this feedback. Thank you!
