red circle with X shows on destination disk when cloning

Thread needs solution

I'm having an interesting problem. When i attempt to clone my current source disk, i get a red x on the destination disk. if i proceed with the clone, there are errors on the destination disk when i attempt to boot. I have tried several destination disks. Awhile back i made some backup disks. When I clone one of my earlier backup disks, there is no red x on the destination and everything works fine. it is only this particular source disk that i have the problem. i have done a check disk to look for errors on the source and none were found. I have created a system image of the source disk and restored it to another disk. I take the restored disk and boot it up fine but if i try to clone it, i get the same problem (red X) on the destination disk. What ever the issue is with the source disk is duplicated in the created image and gets restored to another disk.

Hi,

The error looks to be corruption found on the main partition of the drive which would indicate what will become partion C even though the screenshot you provide shows it as partition F.

What switches did you apply to check disk?  Did you run chkdsk from an admin command prompt or admin PowerShell prompt or from within the Windows GUI?

If your disk is an HDD run chkdsk /r from either PowerShell or Command prompt (admin only).

If your disk is an SSD run chkdsk /f

Thanks for your help. I pressed the windows key + X and selected windows powershell. Ran chkdsk /f (disk is ssd). Couldn't run because disk was being used. Asked to run it on reboot and I selected yes. chkdsk ran on reboot.

After checking a few things, I rebooted to acronis and proceeded to clone. No red X!!!  I am runnig on the clone.

Thanks so much :-)

Glad to have helped

Sorry but your answer makes no sense for the problem being reported!
