Replace subscription with perpetual license?

Thread needs solution

After participating in the ATI 2020 Beta test I was given a 1 year ATI subscription.  That sounded good at the time, but the current health crisis got me reconsidering.  If I were to die and (obviously) no renew the subscription, backups of my wife's laptop would stop.  (Probably not the most immediate problem, but why add to the chaos.)  I would be better off buying a perpetual license.  (I don't use the Acronis cloud and don't have any plans to do so.)

If I purchase the license tomorrow, would my subscription still remain in effect until it expires, or would that serial number be inactivated?  If both licenses remain active (until the subscription expires) could I have some computers using one license and other computers using the other?

At the bottom of the ATI GUI's Account page there is a link labeled "Enter serial number".  Is that the way to switch to the perpetual license before the subscription expires?  I'm reluctant to click on it just to see what it does.

Switching can be a bit messy.

I would create a new account for the perpetual licence. Then when you next run ATI on your wife's computer, open ATI GUI, then select Account, then on the top right hand corner your account email address is displayed, click on it and select logout, then login using the new email address, if you have already loaded the licence into that account alll will be well, if not I think you can then add the licence number in ATI.

I did this recently when I upgraded my mother-in-laws computer from Windows 7.1 to Windows 10; had to remove ATI 2014, and as the ATI 2020 licences in that account were all used, I used by other account to support ATI 2020 (where I had a spare licence).

Hope this helps you get things sorted.

Ian

I run both subscription (via MVP program) and perpetual licenses on my single Acronis Account profile and have switched from subscription to perpetual by simply entering my serial number on the Account page without any issues.

For MVP's, the subscription will be renewed while we are active but I share the same concern about having a subscription in the longer term, hence have always taken advantage of the discounts when offered and keep a number of perpetual licenses.

Perpetual licenses will still see the Cloud storage provided you are using the same account, so I have such licenses making backups to the Cloud as well as the subscription ones.

I have never tried or needed to recover from the Cloud backups as have multiple local destinations in use at the same time.
