Rescue Media doesn't see my M.2
Please can anyone help? I am pulling my hair out!
I have a Z690-P whose c:drive is a 1TB M.2 (and I also have a sata Data drive).
I just cannot get the Rescue Drive to see the M.2 It only sees my Data drive. I want to recover my C:
I read about the problem and have tried downloading Windows APK and PE but Acronis doesn't seem to use it. Just tells me to install it.
I have used Acronis for years with "old" type HDDs and it saved me many times. Can somebody please tell me how to get a recovery drive that will allow me to see my M.2?
Thanks

Thanks for your help Tom. Unfortunately nothing seems to help!
Today I tried everything I could think of.
Reset BIOS to Defaults. Ran sfc/scannow & DSIM multiple times then more SFC/sc..
Then uninstalled Acronis fully & reinstalled. Built Rescue Media/Advanced/PEbased/64bit WindowsRE
Same thing. On booting into Rescue it did not see M.2 drive.
In Windows, I looked at Device Manager & saw M.2 used iastorVD driver so added this to the build (AddFolder). Tried rebuilding WinRE again - same result. Only sees Data disk.
Entered BIOS to see if I could follow advice re. IntelRST. Went to Advanced/SAConfig and switched VMD controller Off (ignoring warning). Booted to AcrRescue again. Same result - no M.2. (I had then to Enable VMD contrlr. again of course)
I can see no way to move my M.2 onto AHCI from NVME. Also cannot see how to switch off Intel RST.
Any suggestions?
My board is Asus Z690-P. i12700k. Windows 11. Acronis 2020 v38600
Thanks

Gareth, please see forum topic: Intel VMD Raid0 drive wont show up in the True Image 2021 BootStick! where this issue has been discussed previously in some depth before a solution was found.

Thanks for drawing my attention to it Steve Smith.
I have tried really hard to understand the discussion but I just cannot follow what is required to do!
I used the MVPTool to set up a WinPE envmt. but got stuck at the batch file etc. Step-by-step instructions are essential for me I'm afraid.
I installed Trial AOMEI Backupper today - and that seems to work "out of the box"!
Shall I give up on Acronis after many years?
I will try a bit more, then re-install Windows & invest in AOMEI I think.
Regards
Gareth

Gareth, which version of Acronis True Image are you using here?
I suspect that the issue you are seeing is down to an encounter between new Intel RST VMD technology and the lack of support for the same in the version being used, which may also extend to the latest Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office version (which is essentially a modified ATI 2021 with some updated Cyber Protect features).
It is more likely that AOMEI Backupper along with other competitor products have focussed more on keeping up with new storage technologies than Acronis who have been distracted by their attempt to move into the Cyber Protection (aka antivirus, anti-malware, anti-ransomware) market.
VMD is a relatively new technology so it may take Acronis a little longer to catch up and even then it will be in their latest current product(s) where this will be implemented, not in older products like True Image.

I really appreciate your explaining this so fully for me.
Thank you very much.
I have bitten the bullet and bought Aomei. I will keep Acronis for my old gear.
Thanks
