Restoring Full File Level Backup

Tutorial

I have a procedural question.

My hard drive failed and I replaced it.  I have two backup files, 1 image backup and 1 file level backup.  The file level backup has every folder and file on the hard drive, and is newer than the image backup.

I restored the Image backup to the hard drive using Acronis Bootable Media (WinPE).

I was told I should restore the file backup through Acronis True Image 2020 once I got the computer booted and running.

I got the computer booted and running, and I started that process with the file level recovery, but I keep getting access denied errors, "Access denied. You are possibly trying to work with other files or folders when working with" filename.

Should I be restoring this file level backup of the whole disk using Acronis Bootable Media again, the letting the file level backup overwrite whatever files it has to without contending with files in use and access issues?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Out of abundant caution, when recovering files, I do not recover them to the original location. This avoids unintentionally overwriting important files. The message you are getting is due to security settings.

I think the following information taken from the ATI 2021 user guide may offer a solution.

5.6.5 File recovery options
Location: Recovery options > Advanced > File recovery options
You can select the following file recovery options:
Recover files with their original security settings - if the file security settings were preserved during backup (see File-level security settings for backup (p. 71)), you can choose whether to recover them or let the files inherit the security settings of the folder where they will be recovered to. This option is effective only when recovering files from file/folder backups.
Set current date and time for recovered files - you can choose whether to recover the file date and time from the backup or assign the files the current date and time. By default the file date and time from the backup will be assigned

The security setting may offer the solution, using the inherit parameter.
