Seems Like a Dumb Move

I got a message that the back up drive had run out of room. Silly me.... I assumed the oldest back ups would automatically be deleted to make room for new ones. Nope. Reading the information in Custom Backup Schemes I find "Keep size of the backup no more than [defined size] (not available for local backups created by Acronis True Image 2020 or later) - Select this option to limit maximum size of the backup. After creating a new backup version, the program checks whether the total backup size exceeds the specified value. If it's true, the oldest backup version will be deleted.": Why would this most useful option have been deleted in the 2020 version, I wonder.

Brian, welcome to these public User Forums.

Acronis have changed to a new .tibx file format with ATI 2020 for Disks & Partitions backups, which has brought with it some other changes which unfortunately impact on other areas that users have been using, such as the options you mentioned.

We can only hope that as the new .tibx file format 'matures' with ATI 2020, that Acronis find ways to bring back some of these options, or offer alternative methods of achieving the same end result.

If you are making Files & Folders backups, then these should still retain all the same options as for previous versions of ATI.

Please submit Feedback via the tool provided in the Help section of ATI GUI to make Acronis aware of your views on these changes.
