slow recovery and testing .

Thread needs solution

Hello to support.

Acronis 2020 version 21400 is very slow while restoring.

the previous version Acronis True Image 2019 17750 was do A Great job.

Today, restoration takes a lot of time !

In the past I used to restore 17 gigabytes in 8 minutes but in this version 21400 it takes close to an hour for no particular reason without change on the computer or hardware.

If I go back to the previous 2019 17750 version this problem will not be.

The new version took a few steps back instead forward because the new format is TIBX instead of TIB.

In addition the test also takes a lot of time instead 4 minutes its takes 16 minutes .

Please take this to your attention !

thanks ...

ilanmz.

Ilan, when you wrote:

What type of backup are you restoring here and what size is it?
I assume that this is a Disk & Partitions backup given you mention .tibx files being involved?

How are you doing the restore operation?
Is this being done from within Windows requiring a restart of the computer to complete?
Or is this being done using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media?

What drives are involved in this environment, i.e. what is the Source for the backup, where is the backup stored (Destination drive), how are these drives connected to your computer?

Ilan, the Feedback procedure is for providing user comments about the product to Acronis.  A response should not be expected.

If you think you are running into unexpected and incorrect behavior in the product and need help dealing with this behavior, you should open a problem ticket with Acronis support.  (I think a restore time increasing from 8 minutes to one hour should be reported in a problem ticket in any case.)

If you think you may need suggestions from other users on this forum then perhaps you could provide more information.

Was this a "Disk and Partitions" (or "Entire PC") backup?  17GB seems like a very small drive, but you mention .tibx so I assume it was not a "Files and Folders" backup.

Were you watching the ATI GUI while the backup progressed?  If so, was the whole process slow or did it proceed normally and then get stuck at "Less then one minute" for a very long time?  There seems to be some kind of change in ATI behavior (unrelated to the new .tibx processing) that can make this last step in recovery take a very long time.  I assume this is a bug.

What type of backup are you restoring here and what size is it?

windows partition drive c : 17 giga

yes

How are you doing the restore operation?

f11 or bootable Rescue Media (from disc)

Is this being done from with in Windows requiring a restart of the computer to complete?

restart

Or is this being done using the Acronis bootable Rescue Media?

both

What drives are involved in this environment, i.e. what is the Source for the backup, where is the backup stored (Destination drive), how are these drives connected to your computer?

wd my book 1tb ( drive F )

drive c windows partition

USB  2.0

thanks for the help ...

Ilan, thank you for the new information.

17GB does seem quite small for a Windows partition?  What version of Windows OS is this?

F11 = ASRM (Acronis Startup Recovery Manager) which is a Linux based boot environment.

Which type of bootable Rescue Media (from disc) are you using here?  Is this Linux media created from the downloadable ISO image from your Acronis Account, or have you created this media using the Acronis Rescue Media Builder program in ATI 2020?

See KB 63226: Acronis True Image 2020: how to create bootable media for more information on this subject of creating media.

USB 2.0 drives are slower than newer drives that are able to take advantage of USB 3.x ports and connections.

One further question: how much memory does your computer have?

Was this a "Disk and Partitions" (or "Entire PC") backup?

Disk and Partitions

17GB seems like a very small drive, but you mention .tibx so I assume it was not a "Files and Folders" backup.

yes

yes

whole process

The clock changed and not Sable

it started in 16 minutes and then jumped to 30 and then to 50 minutes and so it repeats

p.s.  when i checking the backup the validation is slow to like 16 min

thanks for your to time ...

windows 10 40 gigs after compression of acronis is a 17 gigs.

Acronis Startup Recovery Manager.

Which type of bootable Rescue Media (from disc) are you using here?

Acronis Rescue Media Builder program in ATI 2020.

USB 2.0 drives are slower than newer drives that are able to take advantage of USB 3.x ports and connections.

the computer is not support for usb 3.0 (fujitsu life book A series ).

WD MY BOOK ELITE 1 TB ( USB 2.0 ).

One further question: how much memory does your computer have?

8 gigs.

Just important to explain that if I go back to version 2019 17750 I have no problems it is the same computer and the same hardware with no changes..

thanks very much for your time ..

Ilan, can you clarify exactly what you are doing here for the purpose of testing?

There are known issues with Validation in ATI 2020 where this is slower than in previous versions, but this shouldn't really impact on doing a recovery.

Hi Steve Smith

after i create a backup on my my book with acronis the software is Defined to do A validation That usually is very quick but on this version 21400 is very slow like the recovery after i restart from f11 / boot cd of acronis.

It seems that all the processes in the software have become slow overall.

Anyway I went back to version 17750/2019 and now I have no slowness issues.

Too bad the company changed the software to a different format that is TIBX it's hit the performance of this wonderful software that has saved me countless times I am a old user with the software i have not seen she's work so slowly.

thanks again for your help ...

Ilan, I had to deal with every new Ati software since 2011 teething problems. The 2020 still needs a few builds until it runs.

Hi Logitech21.

I Hope you’re right, and the software will be good again with no problems !
