True Image 2020 Finished, but with Errors

Thread needs solution

Hello Gals and Guys -

I bought True Image in 2020 after having and liking 2010 for many years.  I hadn't had a chance to use it until recently.  I had done a fresh install of Windows 10 on my PC and made an image without issue.  I then decided I wanted to try Windows 11.  I guess I hadn't learned my lesson the other times installing Windows 11, but I had an image I could put back easily, right?

When I opened True Image in Windows 11, it told me it could not find my backups.  I did rename them, but eventually found them.  I started the recover process.  It restarted and was preparing itself, but the next thing I noticed is a dialog box pops up and it says it was completed with errors.  I don't think the progress bar ever started.  It gave me the choice retrying or canceling.  I chose to retry and it basically did the same thing, so I canceled and rebooted.  I'm now back in Windows 11, but I'd like to return to Windows 10.  Is there some way I can return to Windows 10?  Thanks for any help.

If it is less than 10 days since you upgraded from Windows 10 to 11, then you should simply be able to roll back from 11 to 10 by using the Recovery panel option of the Settings panel provided by Windows.

As far as Acronis and especially ATI 2020 and later versions, it is never a good idea to start renaming backup files as these are now linked by using metadata!

Any Acronis OS disk recovery needs to be performed by booting from Acronis rescue media  and not started from within Windows.  Doing the latter will always require a restart but will boot into a temporary Linux based environment which has a number of limitations.

Thanks for the help Steve.  I was able to put Window 10 back via the Windows recovery process.  I used rename files all the time back when I had 2010, so I didn't know it was an issue.  Can I rename them back to what they were?  I did make a recovery disc in case I need it in the future.  Thanks again.

Glad you were able to recover back to Win 10 using the Windows option.

You may find it easier to just make a new full backup rather than fix the file name issues for the earlier backup files.  If you do try renaming the files back then run a validation afterwards to check for issues.

Thanks Steve.  I appreciate the help.  How would I know what name to put back?  I have two files.  I have two files- one with just Windows update run and the drivers, and another with the full install.  Thanks again.

Download a copy of the MVP Assistant log viewer tool and use this to look at the logs to see what the file names were when you created the backups.

The latest version of the new log viewer tool is at the link below.
MVP Assistant - New 2.0 with Rescue Media Builder (New Version 2.3.2) BETA Version 2.4.0.1 available, see posting below.

If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.

If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.

Thanks Steve.  I downloaded the MVP, but wasn't sure how to find the old name.  I did verify my backups, so hopefully they'll be useful if and when I need them.  Thanks again.
