TruImage 2020 hangs for hours when trying to clone SSD system disk to new SSD disk

Thread needs solution

Hi.  I have tried to clone my EVO 870 2TB SSD system drive to a new EVO 870 2TB SSD system drive to keep as a spare in case windows 10 crashes.  This happened last year while auto updating windows and restarting.  However, when I start the cloning process, the program hangs, stating that it is calculating the time remaining.  After several hours, nothing had changed.  I stopped the clone process and looked at the new SSD.  No data had been copied to it.

This does not seem like it is normal.  When I do a backup, it seems to work fine.  The version is 2020, build 38600,  The new SSD is connected to a SATA cable inside the computer.

Hello Jeff!

Welcome to the forum!

Please check this KB and if all the instructions are followed:

I would advise you to backup and recover instead of cloning. You can execute a regular backup of the disk and perform the recovery after with the bootable media: https://kb.acronis.com/content/69427

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jose.  I will look at the KBs you recommended.  However, I do not want to have to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch if something happens again.  It took several weeks to get it set up the way I want by looking online and reading solutions.  I prefer to remove the old drive and pop the new one in and be back in business.  I will let you know if I have questions after reading the KBs.
