Trying to recover specific files from the Acronix Backup File (.tibx file) to a new computer

Thread needs solution

I had my desktop computer crash and it looks like the SSD failed. I have a recent backup file (.TIBX) from this failed computer on a Network drive.   I purchased another computer and now trying to copy specific files from this backup file to this new computer.  When I double click on this backup file using Windows File Explorer I get this error message: "An error occurred while opening the backup archive     Cannot continue the operation because the backup is corrupted, or it is being use by another process, or you do not have enough permissions to perform the operation".   What can I do to get access to the files in this backup file?  I don't want to restore the entire backup file, just specific files from the Documents Folder.  Do I have to use Rescue Media or Universal Restore programs?

Hello Jim.

Welcome to the forum.

Please note that recover files/folder you need to have the agent installed on the new machine.

For more details, please refer to the following KB's: https://kb.acronis.com/content/63240https://kb.acronis.com/content/60918

You can also create a bootable media ( I advise you the WinPE ) in order to recover those files and folders: https://kb.acronis.com/content/69427?ckattempt=1

Feel free to update this thread if you have any questions.

Best regards.

It is always prudent to recover to a separate directory just in case things go pear-shaped.
