Trying to use old connection path when recovering
Hi everyone,
I'm really stuck trying to recover some data. A while back we migrated infrastructure and the IP addresses of our NAS servers changed. Backup tasks are backing up from NAS A to NAS B.
At the time I updated the IP addresses in the tib.tis files for NAS A, I used the "Change Destination" feature to update NAS B, and cleaned the registry of old smb credentials to be sure. Worked like a charm and both tasks have been backing up since with no issues.
I now need to recover some data, for one task everything went without a hic. For the other, when I try to go to the recovery panel, it pops up a dialog box asking for network credentials, but the connection path listed is the old NAS B (destination) IP address .... So I have the credentials but obviously they fail since that path is no longer reachable.
I have checked all the .tib.tis files located here
ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts
and this old IP address is not listed anywhere. I have checked my entire registry for this old IP address and it is not anywhere in the registry ...
When I eventually have to hit cancel I get "Failed to check last versions of the backup."
Would really appreciate any help !
Thanks,
John

Hi Steve,
Thank you, I just tried what you suggested and it didn't work. I deleted the task, I copied the last 5 backup sets (last full and 4 incremental) to a new location, and tried to import again from there. When importing, first it asks for the encryption key, then the exact same authentication window shows up, with the same old path ...

John, ok, then the next action is to change the names of the 5 files you have copied so that they do not match any previous backup task on your computer, i.e. add a couple of extra letters to the names of the files, then retry again. Obviously make the same change to all the files.

No luck unfortunately .... If that's of any help, the authenticated box comes prepopulated with the correct username and a password (obfuscated). Is it at all conceivable that these could be stored in the files themselves ?

The authentication is not stored within the .tib files but will come from either the database or else the registry or script .tib.tis files.
The next suggestion would be to force the database to be rebuilt by following the steps in KB 60915: Acronis True Image: repairing program settings
Note: the KB document covers a number of repair actions that may not be needed here.

Thanks a lot for the advice and help! Really helped me out. Since the backups live on a NAS I simply installed ATI on a different computer and tried restoring from there. Worked perfectly. When I have more time I'll do a full uninstall on the original computer to clean up the database.
Have a good one.
