Unable to authenticate to shared folder (on Mac)
Setup
Windows 7Pro 64 bit running as guest on Parallels 15 for Mac on Catalina 10.15.5
During development I wish to make a series of backups stored on shared file on Mac partition.
The problem I have is the same that I unsuccessfully attempted to resolve in the 2018 ver. It is hugely disappointing to see that the problem remains in the latest build of 2020 25700.
After browsing to a location to store backup a prompt for "Authentication Settings" pops up. Nothing entered will persuade Acronis to continue. After wasting a whole evening searching I managed to get an authentication by using a uni to location eg \\MyMac\LocBucket. That was Monday. Now on Wednesday that does not work nor can I restore from the previous "successful" backup.
Lets first rule out the obvious. The shared folder does have full read/write permissions for me. The location IS accessible to the browse function. Acronis DOES have write permission because I can create a new folder at the desired location.
The need to access shared folder, maybe on external drive or file server is absolutely fundamental.
The failure is somehow related to authentication. But how?
Please can Acronis tech support assist with a solution

Have you contacted Acronis Technical support about this issue? Merely sending feedback is unlikely to get any formal response. Most users of this forum are Windows users, so you may be better off reposting in the (hard to find) Acronis True Image for Mac Forum.
It is always possible that this issue has been addressed in ATI 2021 which is currently in beta testing - might be worthwhile checking it out.

Thank you for your suggestion Ian. I have not made contact with tech support yet. There is always the hope that the same symptoms have been seen amongst the user community thus my post. Although the backup target is on a Mac my TI is windows based.
The Mac based version of TI (2018 was when it last failed me) is/was a shockingly poor equivalent to the Windows version. At that time I have both Mac version installed and a separate version on my virtual windows for backing up that. Tech support told me that Mac version can't cope if there is also a windows version present. They wanted me to use the windows version to try and recover the Mac version backup. Anyway I suffered a total data loss that even specialist data recovery could not fix.
I'll raise a support ticket
