Universal Restore and windows 11

Thread needs solution

My current PC is windows 10 and  i have full backups. I will get a new PC, which has a first version of windows 11.

Can i use Acronis Universal Restore to restore my old windows 10 backup  data to my new Windows 11 PC ???

Universal restore is not designed to do this.

If you just want to transfer your data to the new PC, the easy way is just to copy it to USB drive, then plug the drive into the new PC and copy the data to the appropriate directory.

Alternatively, you can mount a current Acronis disk backup of your old PC and drag and drop files to the location you want them. To do so, in explorer select the backup file, right click and select mount. If prompted, do NOT opt to retain security settings.

This works well for documents, images and videos. Email can be more problematic. If you use a email client such as Thunderbird see guidance here. If you use Outlook, the approach differs if you use IMAP/Microsoft Exchange rather than POP. You can mount *.pst (used by POP) in your new installation but not *.ost - you can export them to *.pst from within Outlook. You can also export you contacts. For IMAP/Exchange Server you can just set up the accounts and emails will be download to the new PC - it can take a while.
