Universal Restore cannot find an operating system on the current machine
I've create a CD with TrueImage and Universal Restore (32 and 64-bit) under Windows 10 Home as Linux-based media and Windows-like volume representation.
After testing AUR 2020 on the same machine, it starts, but could not find a operating system.
When I check with the folder option, I've investigated that the dive letters are wrong!
The structure on the disk below:
System-reserved partition (549 Mb) no dive letter !
Operating system Windows 10 Home called 'System' (936 Gb) Drive C:
Partition 3 (542Mb) no drive letter
Data (925Gb) called 'Daten' Drive D:
When AUR has been started, the drive letters start with the system-reserved partition as C:,
next partition 'System' as D: then the Data drive as E:.
What do I have to do, that AUR will ignore the System-reserved partition, as the partition 3 will not shown
in AUR ?

Hi Steve,
thanks for the reply. Yes I understand, but how does the AUR checks for an existing Operating system ?
As you need the System-reserved partition for Windows 10, it doesn't applies to me why it doesn't find the Windows ?

Lgk, sorry it has taken some time to come back with a response - has been a busy time with other non-Forum matters!
I have just tested booting from my MVP Custom WinPE rescue USB media which includes both ATI 2020 and AUR on my main laptop running Windows 10 #2004 and it was able to find the OS volume with no issue as shown in the screen images below.
As shown above in the top image, there is a button to 'Select OS..' which you should be able to click and see if you can navigate to and select your Windows 10 partition / volume.
One question: when you are booting from your AUR media, are you using the same BIOS mode as used by your Windows 10 OS - this is important so that the OS is correctly managed.

Hi Steve,
don't worry, I've time :-)
many thanks for the reply.
I've made several test and had a 'crazy moment' as I want to create a disk director CD on that machine.
I've selected the Disk Director 12.5 programs to create the CD.
It works fine, but after booting, it starts with AUR even though it was not selected for the CD creation.
and the other issue, it found the OS Windows 10 !!
To your question, yes the system runs in legacy mode and as you see above, the software seems to be ok.
So, I've checked the system and have re-installed Windows 10 #1903 and will run the test again.
I'll keep you informed as Windows is running still the updates.
I'll also try to create a Windows PE media, which has been fail too.
Steve, a other maybe dump question:
how do you get the screen shots in a forum topic ?
I've tried, but get only the message that my browser only allows CTRL-V, but no sucess.

In the toolbar at the top of the comment panel, click on the icon that is 3rd from right on the lower line (looks like a couple of mountains with the sun or moon above). This will allow you to upload an image file then select it to be embedded in the post text.

Hi Steve,
as promised, I'm back.
After re-installing Windows 10 and the Acronis Products (TI2020, DD12.5, UVR) I've created a DVD as recovery media and all Software works fine !!
So for me, It's important in the future, to have a real valid OS !

I’ve just made a Universal Restore CD on my Win 10 machine and tested it on the same machine and, as above, it fails to find an OS. This might have been answered above, but, if it was, I didn’t understand. Could someone explain what I need to do in simple terms, please?

Hi Tom,
as it's a real long time ago and I've now a Synology-NAS where I have a real easy possibility to backup and restore,
I'll try to explain:
I've a Testsystem with Windows 10 Home, which was converted from Windows 7, so I've backed up all Data on that machine, cleared the whole partition and reinstalled the Windows from an ISO-file.
Then I've created the new Universal Restore CD with TI2020.
Youe will get the actual Windows 10 from Microsoft to tpye Windows 10 in the browser
As I have no experiences with the actual version, it seems, that you need to do the same:
Backup your data
Clear your Windows Partitions
Reinstall Windows
Reinstall Programs if necessary
Restore Data
Create a new Universal Restore CD or Stick.
I hope this will help
