Universal Restore Driver error

Thread solved

Having a problem with Universal restore wanting a ACPI_HAL/UEFI driver.  I can't locate this driver at Dell's site, not even sure what to look for.  I successfully installed the Storage Controller and network driver, but can't seem to find the proper ACPI_HAL/UEFI driver.

Any help would be appreciated.

That driver should not keep the restored disk from booting.  Have you tried booting the disk?

It won't let me proceed with the restore.  Unless I'm just stupid and don't know how to proceed

Have you followed the steps as given in KB 62970: Acronis True Image 2020: Restoring to dissimilar hardware with Acronis Universal Restore?

Restore to dissimilar hardware procedure overview:

  1. Validate the backup you want to restore from.
  2. Prepare necessary drivers.
  3. Create Acronis Bootable Media with Acronis Universal Restore Tool. You need this media to restore from your backup and apply Universal Restore afterwards to make your old system bootable on new hardware.
  4. Connect Acronis Bootable Media to your computer and restart the computer. Restore your system.
  5. After recovery, start your new computer once again and use Universal Restore to make the restored system bootable on the new hardware.
  6. Now you can start the computer and work with your system restored to the new hardware.

I am trying that procedure now.  I was having troubles with TrueImage restoring because of drive size.  But I think I should have it fixed as soon as I can actually restore the partition to the new PC.  Thanks for your help.

Saw the same message this morning and as Enchantech said it did not keep me from booting. I think it's because I was cloning an M2 drive to another M2 drive using a ESB-C enclosure for the second drive. It was probably warning me of an issue booting from the drive in the enclosure which was moot because after the clone I swapped it into the Dell laptop as the primary drive.

I got the same problem. When starting my new PC with the Universal Restore USB stick after restoring with a system image from my old PC. Everytime I try to boot with the USB stick it stops at 55% and shows the same message asking for this ACPI_HAL\UEFI driver.

I couldn`t figure out what are the "necessary drivers". Could you please explain what I should do to solve this problem. Where do I get this ACPI_HAL\UEFI driver from? Need your help

Thanks a lot,

Juergen

I haven't had very good luck with universal restore.  Try these things:

1. Pop the drive from the old computer into the new computer.  It might just boot up with no issues.

2.  If that's not possible, image the old drive to the new PC with true image.  Restart the PC, it might just work.

3.  If those don't work, I've done this numerous times and it works every time.  Image the old drive to the new PC with true image.  Remove the drive from the new PC.  Insert the drive into a USB adapter and insert the USB adapter into the computer.  Boot to the USB drive.  Once booted, update EVERY driver (it's most important to get the storage controller drivers installed).  Install all windows updates.  Shutdown and remove the USB adapter and reinstall the drive in the PC.  It should boot right up.

Hey Preston,

thanks a lot for your response, appreciate.

Finally I got it to boot from the old drive and could get what I forgot to backup.

Take care,

Juergen
