Unknown error when trying to restore files from rescue disk

Thread needs solution

Hello, I am new to this forum so I am hoping someone can help me with a problem with True Image 2020. I have created a bootable disk on an external hard drive (500GB).  I just created a brand new full backup of both disks (file backup, not partition backup) that are in my Windows 10 PC.  The backup finished without errors.  When I try to boot from the external disk to test being able to restore my backups, I get the message "An unknown error has occurred"  when I select Recover Files/Folders and choose my backup.  I have tried this several times and I always get the same error.  So what good does it do having a bootable disk if you can't get to your files?  Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong here?  This is a Windows 10 PC that is about 10 years old but working fine.  The external drive is connected by USB and is a brand called G Drive Slim, 500GB, formatted as NTFS. If it is any help, here is the disks list from the Acronis System report for my system. The external drive is the last one listed 3 -d(0) because I created the system report while booted from the external disk.  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Larry, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but with just the information provided it is impossible to give a reason for any issues here.

First, have you tested opening the backup image files from the external drive using the Windows Acronis application or just double-clicking on the files in Explorer to confirm that they are valid and will open correctly?

Next, have you tested booting into the offline Acronis application from the Survival Kit external drive (I am assuming that this is what you have done)?
When doing so, did you boot the drive using the same BIOS boot mode as used by Windows on your PC?

When working in the rescue media environment, Acronis still produces log files for any operations being performed and these can be viewed by clicking on Logs in the left column menu and can be saved by right-clicking on the top line of the log(s) where an option will be shown for this.  The log may shed more information on what is happening for any errors.
