Upgrade ATI 2017 -> ATI 2020: "User data is applied..." hangs

Thread needs solution

Hi

HelloAfter upgrading from ATI 2017 to ATI 2020, the "User data is applied..." window appears after starting. The application hangs approximately in the middle of the progress bar. Multiple attempts, rebooting the PC and repairing with the downloaded setup do not help. All Acronis services are running.

Thanks and regards

Walt, previous times when this has been reported, the solution was to disconnect all other backup drives that may hold .tib files, so that when ATI is scanning for these, there is much less to find.

It is also possible that you have a backup task brought forward from ATI 2017 that could be causing this issue (that has also been seen).

Try the first option initially then come back if it is not resolved.

I have the same problem with ATI2021 (just installed and no reroll to ATI2017 seems possilble). I disconnected all external and network drives, but ATI2021 just hangs at the decribed position with no error message. How can I stop searching user settings??? I don't want to deinstall and loose all backup settings from ATI2017.

Any upgrade to ATI 2021 from earlier than ATI 2019 is recommended that the old version is uninstalled first!

Uninstalling ATI 2021 now looks to remove all backup data so you would need to make a copy of your C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Scripts folder before doing this.  This folder holds the XML script files for your backup task, which you could copy back before attempting to start ATI 2021 after reinstalling it.
