usage of survival kit

Thread needs solution

Do I understand it correctly: I can boot from one external drive and use the system backup for recovery which is located on another hard drive?

Also, I have following issues:

  • it is not obvious how to delete the survival kit (?)
  • if the drive with the kit is plugged in before the computer starts it boots automatically into the acronis. One article says you have change the order of the devices in BIOS. I did so. But is still boots. One the other hand the other article says that the bootable media should be the first in order to be able to use the recover service. It is really confusing
  • There is no Exit button after you booted into acronis (or how should you call it?). You can close the window, then you are left with the command line. You can close it, then the computer restarts, but if you don't unplug the drive fast enough it boots again into Acronis. Very user unfriendly!

Walter,

See KB 61639: Acronis True Image 2019 and 2020: how to create Acronis Survival Kit - for more information on the process.
Also KB 61738: Acronis True Image: Survival Kit disk partition for backups is limited to 2TB on BIOS-booted systems
And Acronis Article:  The Acronis Survival Kit

There is no option provided by ATI to delete or remove a Survival Kit but you can do this by using a partition manager application such as the free MiniTool Partition Wizard software which will allow you to delete the Acronis HM 2GB FAT32 partition from your HDD disk.

An Acronis Survival Kit can be used to boot your computer, at the same time as the second partition on the same disk drive can be used for storing backup images for new backups performed from the ASK or for doing restores / recoveries, so that only the one physical drive and one USB port is needed.
