Whole Backup Fails on Individual File Errors
Hi, I am having some trouble with some files I am backing up, which appear to have bad clusters.
I am fixing the files separately to this topic, but am concerned about ATI's handling of file errors in scheduled backup tasks. I would expect it to skip files it is unable to backup, but instead the whole backup job fails and nothing is available to recover. It seems crazy to throw away a whole backup because a handful of files have errors.
The two errors I am getting in the Demon log for each file is:
E00170027: Failed to back up file or folder '\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy32\[full_file_path+name]'. It may be blocked by another application. E00040019: Failed to back up file or folder '[file_name]'. It may be blocked by another application.
Are there any better error handling options available somewhere, e.g. continue on file error?
Regards,
Chris

Hi Steve, thanks for the ideas. Your point about the backup being compromised is a good one but IMO it does depend on what you are backing up. In this case it is a library of photos (~65,000), so I would rather have two or three files missing from a backup than what I ended up with: a month of not being backed up at all.
The backup was successful last night after a checkdisk resolved the bad sectors, though I wouldn't call the photos in question repaired! haha
It would still be great if anyone knows of additional options for error handling.
