Windows 10 Clone from Toshiba 7200 RPM drive to new crucial SSD drive

Thread needs solution

The cloning appears to run and complete but SSD shows corrupt. I am attaching SSD to USB port for cloning. Both drives are 2TB. I can quick format the SSD and copy files to it using USB cable. What troubleshooting steps would you recommend? Can I perform a backup of spinning drive and restore to SSD? Would this also move the OS and windows and allow it to be a bootable drive? I am wanting to replace the spinning drive with SSD.

Barry, before we can provide you with assistance some more information would be appreciated. How exactly does the SSD indicate that there is a corruption issue?

Please confirm that you are using ATI 2020 (if not, please provide the version and build). The latest build of ATI 2020 is 25700. What operating system are you using, for example Windows 10 Pro x64 build 2004. Edit:  just looked at you post again and see that you are running Windows 10.

While it is possible to do the clone from within Windows, things can unexpectedly go wrong. Before doing so you should always make a backup of the disk. My preference when using the recovery media is to recover a prior backup rather than clone. If you are replacing the drive on a notebook, Acronis recommends that you place the new disk in the notebook before do the clone/recovery.

So, to answer your question, you can do backup and recovery to the new disk. This is relatively simple if the SSD is a SATA drive, but some fine tuning may be needed if it is an M.2 drive.
