Windows 11 Pro

Thread needs solution

Today I installed Windows 11 over WIN 10 per ISO. So far everything is okay. Now I have made a backup of the new version Win 11 on an external drive. This backup is over 325 giga, although my SSD LW is only 230 giga in size. How can that be.

If you have continued an existing backup task that has previously created backup images of Windows 10, then installed Windows 11, all the partitions will have been updated and the net effect would be the equivalent of creating a new Full backup image due to the extensive changes.  I am assuming that your backup task is making Incremental backups, hence it would have at least one Full backup of Windows 10, perhaps some small Incremental backups of the same, then a very large Incremental backup of Windows 11 - all stored within a single .tibx file.

If you open the 'Clean up versions' tool panel for your backup task, or look at the Activity panel for the task, it will show you what has been created.
