Acronis 2021: cannot delete a backup profile or cleanup files - never asks for password

Thread solved

I have tried every way I can think of to accomplish this. I have a backup job that backs up to an external SSD drive then replicates that backup to Acronis cloud. I tried to recover a file from the external drive the other day and no matter what I do Acronis generates an error. File is in cloud version of backup. So I no longer trust Acronis at all for local backup. I want to get rid of that backup job and all the associated files.

Acronis never asks me for a password for the backup files when I go to delete them so both cleanup and delete fail. I have tried both through the product interface and the cloud control panel, nothing works. I also cannot delete the backup job profile itself so it keeps running every night. I'm very frustrated with this product.

I am now backing up everything to Acronis cloud through another new job and that seems to work fine but I really need to stop running the original backup job.

Gregory, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please download the Acronis Scheduler Manager standalone tool (link below) and run this to bring up a black command window.

Type the command task zap  - this will remove all Acronis scheduled tasks, and should stop your unwanted backup task from running.
Note: it will remove the schedule for all backup tasks, so after running this command, you will need to set the schedule for any other tasks you have as these will all now show as being 'Not scheduled'.

Next, open the Replica page for the unwanted task, and look for an option to Pause this then for an option to Delete the replica.  This needs to be done before you try to delete the backup task itself.

Sorry that I cannot give actual steps for doing this as I gave up on using replica after doing an initial test of this with ATI 2020 and found it to be worse than doing separate Cloud backups.

Thank you. I did discover on my own that the issue was replication was going on in the background. Once I stopped that I was able to delete the job. I too gave up on replication strategy and created a new backup directly to cloud. I could not reliably recover anything from local drive acronis backup even from verified files. So, cloud backup it is.

Thanks again.
