Acronis 2021: How to stop backround services

Thread needs solution

Hello ,

I bought Acronis to make image of my hard drives, and restore / transfer to new HDD like SDD. No more

I am disappointed to see how many process are running on my windows session since the installation : the hard drive is constantly accessed by one of the acronis process.

I check the button : 'disable protection' so the "active protection is turned off". but still have for example the anti randsoware process running.

I bought Acronis to use it once every year, not to have active antivirus like process eating my ressources,

==> how do you disable all the automatic bronx, I want to start it manually only when i want to make an image file or restore.

some servicess are even blocked from stopping, and some process , once killed re start .

I am very unpleased, especially i installed it on a fresh clean fast computer, which is now lagging

Thierry, welcome to these public User Forums.

Sorry but you need to raise this design issue with Acronis by opening a Support Case with them to complain about the imposition of all these new 'Protection' features in ATI 2021.

Please also submit Feedback directly to Acronis using the tool provided in the ATI GUI Help section and ask for your vote to be added to their internal change request: TI-213392 Allow installation without Antimalware components

In the interim, then the options available to you are:

  • Revert to an earlier version of ATI if you have one (and request a refund for ATI 2021 if purchased within 30-days).

  • Wait for Acronis to produce a version of ATI 2021 with selective installation of protection components.  Don't hold your breath for this!

  • Manually take actions to disable the new protection features.

For the third option, this is possible but requires a number of actions to be taken that include setting the associated Services to be 'Disabled' start-up and renaming the executable files behind the services plus making changes in the Windows Registry.  All of which would be undone if a new build is released and installed.
