Acronis true Image

Thread needs solution

Hello! I recently encountered a fatal error in the Acronis True Image program, leading to a system (not physical) failure of disks.

My hardware configuration:

Two SSDs of the same model are connected to the motherboard on the same computer. The fir

st one has Windows 10 OS installed, and the other disk is empty. On the second empty disk, I created a full backup. Then I decided to restore it to the first disk on which Windows 10 OS is installed. The Acronis True Image program offered to reload my computer, and I agreed. After the reboot, the recovery process began, which ended quite quickly (about 20 seconds), and after the recovery system turned off my computer. When I turned it on again, I couldn't boot from any disk. even the Windows 10 recovery tools could not restore them. So I lost a lot of time. But I was able to connect one of the disks to another PC, format it and install the operating system on it, and I just connected and formatted the second disk.

If you have any questions or answers, write them, I will be happy to talk.

Not good news. When recovering a system disk (one with the operating system), ATI reboots into a temporary Linux distribution. While I have successfully done this with various versions of ATI the process can go badly wrong. For this reason the MVP team prefer to do such recovery (or disc cloning) using the recovery media which is less likely to result in things going pear-shaped. [We also prefer to backup and then recover, rather than do a clone, but that is another matter.]

If you still have the backup, use the recovery media that you created when installing ATI (well most of us do not do that but with hindsight ...) or you can download the Linux recovery media from your Acronis account. When booting make sure that you make the appropriate selection of recovery media (either UEFI or Bios/legacy).
