Acronis True Image 2021 replica not as expected

Thread solved

Acronis True Image 2021 replica not as expected

I have a backup of C;\ hard drive to J:\

When I activate Replica it shows that backup will be J:\ to Cloud

Is this correct?  I expected C:\ to Cloud

Thank you

That is correct.  Replication is from backup file location to cloud storage.

Murray, it is correct that replication uses the backup .tibx image as the source data to be uploaded to the Cloud, otherwise you would be doing a normal Cloud backup.

The point about replication using the .tibx file is that it allows other backup activities to be performed plus also allows for the replication process to be stopped and restarted as needed, including any system restarts that could occur due to this being much slower than backing up to a local drive destination.

Also, Replica takes up much more Cloud storage than creating a separate Cloud backup, due to the regular full backups that are uploaded. You can rapidly find yourself running out of Cloud storage - this happened to me during beta testing. This would not be a big problem if the replica was stored locally, for example on a NAS. For this reason I no longer use it.
