Acronis True Image Standard and Antivirus Protection

Thread needs solution

I have just installed Acronis True Image 2021, imagining that I was purchasing both backup software and complete antivirus protection. (I suppose I should mention that this purchase was an upgrade from Acronis True Image 2020.) I now discover that the protection afforded seems limited to ransomware attacks and cryptomining (whatever that is) and that, after having payed $CAN47.97, I must now subscribe to get the comprehensive protection I thought I was buying. True, True Image Standard offers three months of what Acronis calls advanced protection, but to have the full year of protection I must subscribe to Acronis True Image Premium.

I consider this nothing less than a shabby bait-and-switch proposition. The Acronis web site gave absolutely no indication that there were different levels of protection. There was not a hint that Acronis True Image 2021 did not afford the comprehensive antivirus protection the web site advertised. The Acronis marketing department should be ashamed.

Barry, welcome to these public User Forums.

Please see KB 21242: Refund policy for Personal products for information that should help you if you want to request a refund for your recent purchase, or if you want to change that purchase from a Standard license to a Subscription license that does include the full Acronis Cyber Protect feature.

If you are in the very early days of your ATI 2021 purchase, then I would recommend taking the trial of the new protection features and then use this to help you make an informed decision for whether you still want to upgrade to an Advanced or Premium subscription, but do this within the 30-day period that allows you to get a full refund otherwise!
