Acronis won't start

Thread needs solution

I got a pop that a new version of ATI 2021 is available.  I don’t believe I clicked on it, but it is possible. I decided to open ATI to see what version I have,  When I double click the icon, I get the Windows “Do you want this program to make changes” warning. As usual I clicked OK. And now nothing.  Is ATI running some background task? (No I don’t have a backup job running). Is it perhaps applying that update?  I ran Task Manager but don’t see anything that is obviously ATI.

Any ideas?

The new build update doesn't install itself automatically, the user has to click on the panel to do this, so that isn't what is happening here.

I would suggest doing a Windows restart initially and see if that clears this issue up.

Rebooting fixed the problem, I hesitated to do that, The last time I was in this situation, Acronis was stuck doing something and evidently resumed (or tried to) after a reboot.  However it would  run scheduled backups. Nice, but kind of useless if I can't run the program to restore something.  I ended up reinstalling and recreating my backup jobs.

But it seems OK now, and applied the update,

Thanks

I have a similar problem. Rebooting allowed ATI to start, but then I started the update. That froze at about 25% or so. Process explorer showed no CPU time for ATI processes. Cancellation failed to make the update disappear, so I killed it in process explorer. Now, I'm back at ATI fails to start, so I'll reboot again and at least try to get a backup first.
