Another Acronis True Image 2021 Victim (completely unusable)
I recently did a fresh install of Windows 10 20H2. After installing drivers and such, the first thing I did was install Acronis TI 2021 so that I could take a clean backup before installing apps. I installed version ATI 2021 version 34340. The install went fine but when I launched the program, it repeatedly went into a non-responding state. After much time and a few reboots, it never worked properly. I could not select anything on the console.
I decided to use the ATI removal tool and completely uninstalled it. I downloaded version 32010 (the release before 34340) and installed it. Naturally, the installer hangs at about 25% and the task manager shows 0% utilization for the ATI process (cpu and disk utilization).
My computer is a custom-built pc that is very fast (I5-9600k, 32GB DDR4, NVME SSD). Acronis ran fine before I wiped and reinstalled Windows. This entire process has been frustrating to say the least.
After reading everyone else's issues with 2021, I now want to go back to 2020 but am not sure if it will even work. It's ironic that the one thing taking the most time for a Windows reinstall is trying to install the backup program. I seriously wish they would simplify this program and quit adding needless features that clog up computer resources and increase the risk for stuff like this to happen. However, at the end of the day I am to blame as I decided to purchase it without doing due diligence.

I think most, if not all, beta testers would agree that ATA 2021 was not ready to be released when it was released. You just have to check out the comments on the beta forum to gage the mood of the beta testers.

It's sad that we have to check the beta forum to see if their production release is stable. However, I do appreciate the follow-up.
Honestly, my only gripe with 2020 is that it takes forever to load user settings when launched. I'll most likely just stay with 2020 long term unless there is a truly compelling reason to upgrade. I'm just interested in reliable, fast performing backups. I don't care to have AV protection or any other bloat.
Thanks for your reply.
